THE INTERNATIONAL QUARTER
The International Quarter (TIQ) forms a key component of a new buisness distinct as part of the legacy from the London 2012 Olympic Games. Following the allocation of 15 million sqft of land in preparation for the Games, a further 4 million sqft of the commercial allocation is now to be developed as The International Quarter, comprising residential, retail, hotel and community uses.
Allies and Morrison has been appointed to develop proposals for 334 units, across two residential towers in close proximity to the Olympic Stadium. Currently in the pre-planning stages, the design is being carefully developed to the existing masterplan, which sets out the vision principles and development parameters form the original 2005 outline planning consent. The towers are located at the head of The International Quarter site, within the landscape of Balcony Park. A semi-private landscaped entrance court connects the towers at ground level, creating ‘a place’ between the buildings as a transition between the adjacent Balcony Park and Westfield Avenue, and further emphasising the idea of ‘buildings within a park’.
