Leamouth South: unanimous approval for new riverside neighbourhood

Once the focus of ship building and with a proud maritime past, Leamouth peninsula is a place steeped in London’s past history as a port. It will soon be home to a new riverside neighbourhood with more than 800 new homes and spaces for leisure, education, retail, restaurants and flexible working. A detailed application for planning approval was consented on 12th April by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets allowing this exciting project to move forward.

Leamouth South is designed to be a particularly engaging group of buildings – at once contemporary but also grounded in an understanding of London’s historic wharfs, the scale of their buildings and the spaces they create. A mix of heights, it reflects a modern warehouse theme of medium-rise brick buildings, many with pitched roofs and generous balconies. The result is an eclectic and engaging waterfront quarter at the meeting point of the Rivers Thames and Lea.

The scheme has been designed by Allies and Morrison for Clearstorm Ltd / Ballymore.
