Friargate Station Square Opens in Coventry

Long cut off from one another by a 1960’s era ring road, Coventry’s city centre and train station are linked again with the opening last week of Station Square. The new public realm is set within Friargate, an ambitious new quarter that will greatly expand the city’s provision of high quality office and commercial space.

This first step is an important one in knitting back together a fragmented city into a more cohesive whole. In its end state, lined with restaurants and shops at ground level, Friargate will provide a walkable, urbane extension of the city centre. It’s an important investment in Coventry’s future. Allies and Morrison prepared the masterplan and is designing the first two buildings to go up.
