ALLIES AND MORRISON COLLABORATE WITH BOMPAS & PARR AND DR SIMON PARK TO CREATE “THE CHAMBER OF WISHES” FOR THE MERGE FESTIVAL

This year Bompas & Parr collaborated with Allies and Morrison and microbiologist, Dr Simon Park to create The Chamber of Wishes, the world’s first bio-luminescent algae-based grotto, as part of an installation for this year’s Merge Festival on the South Bank.

The installation features a darkly mysterious chamber, which is shrouded in mist and heavy with the scent of the sea. Delicate neon patterning across the chamber floor and walls guides guests to the central attraction, a fragile array of glass wishing bells. Each bell contains briny water thick with bio-luminescent algae. By ringing the bell, guests will cast a wish and set the algae aglow with phosphorescent shimmer.

Upon leaving the chamber, guests can choose to share their wishes, including digitally, and have their fortunes read aloud as part of the wishing experience.

Alex Wraight, Partner at Allies and Morrison said “It has been fascinating and very rewarding collaborating with Bompass & Parr and MERGE. Our contribution to the installation is a temporary shopfront comprising eight-thousand glowing glass marbles that hint at the wonders within”

The Chamber of Wishes opens to the public Friday 24 September to the 18 October. For more information please go to the following; http://mergefestival.co.uk/
